In 1943, Porcelana Real was founded in Mauá – SP, by Italian immigrants. Schmidt became an intergral part of the fine porcelain history in Brazil. In 1945, the Schmidt family founded  Porcelana Schmidt in Santa Catarina. In 1948, they acquired Porcelana Real, making the fusion of the two companies. In 1956, the Schmidt family acquires the he third factory, at Campo Largo – PR, known as Porcelana Steatita. By the 1950s, technological advancements allowed Schmidt to export for the first time to the United States. By the 1960s, Schmidt had become the absolute leader in the Brazilian market of porcelain, and the brand became famous as the tableware industry’s icon. In the 1970s, Schmidt expands into all tableware segments, and merges into a single brand: Porcelain Schmidt. In the 1980s and 1990s, with a large and diverse line of products, Schmidt solidifies itself as an industry leader, internationally recognized as a trendsetter. During the early 2000s, Schmidt consolidates leadership in the hotel sector. Today, there are two manufacturing facilities (Campo Largo – PR, and Pomerode – SC) and a showroom (São Paulo), Schmidt maintains a valued relationship with its customers.  Porcelana Schmidt was built over recent decades with a continuous drive for supreme quality and excellent service.
